“When half of your head is shaved, you can play more. I think sometimes people are scared of the critique. I get it – it’s terrifying when images go online within half an hour. But passing judgement on someone else is a reflection of your own insecurities. We all make mistakes. We all have a fashion faux pas, choose the wrong script, write the wrong song. But it’s only by taking chances and occasionally getting it wrong that we grow.” — Natalie Dormer for Glamour (June 2014) [x]

“Perfect is very boring, and if you happen to have a different look, that’s a celebration of human nature, I think. If we were all symmetrical and perfect, life would be very dull.”
I know I’m not a conventional beauty. You can read a lot of painful things on the Internet, which criticise you aesthetically – but as far as I’m concerned, that’s not what an actress is.

“I know people think that acting is not quite the occupation of grown-ups, but it is actually the ultimate learning process: You get a multitude of experiences, all for the price of one life.”

Actresses that I absolutely adore – I’ve always been a black sheep. That’s a hard thing to be until you find your calling in life. I was bullied a lot at school, probably because I was perceived to be different from everyone else. But it’s so much of a relief when something works out for you as acting has done for me. I do believe in a kind of rough justice. I wouldn’t regard myself as a success just yet, and I don’t want to jinx it, but I do feel vindicated by what I’ve achieved so far.
